well hello there

Wow. Well this is weird. I feel like I've run into an old friend...like we have so much history but it's a bit weird because I have no idea where to start.

So err, hi.

Here I am, awkwardly blogging again. Can I promise myself to commit to this blog? HA...no. But I feel the need to be around.

Lots has gone on since I last blogged so here is a quick update on us :)

Tony...my adoring husband is busy busy (as always) teaching high school physics and science full time. He loves teaching, specifically physics...it is after all what he loves most after God and his family ;) I joke...(kind of) ...When not being the 'cool new science teacher' he is planning, grading, researching, thinking thinking thinking..and balancing his little family quite beautifully these days. He's got oh so much on his plate, but I can assuredly say that he is blessed and that sharing his passion for math and science is most definitely where God wants Tony to be.

Desmond...my little man. Suddenly my ringlet-haired angel baby boy is like a full on preschooler (minus the going to preschool part, that starts in September) and it breaks my heart yet makes me giddy all at the same time! He says the funniest things and has the wildest imagination...not to mention the wildest little spirit. He is all boy with his bug catching, dirt digging, fire fighting, police patroling, constant climbing, spider obsessed little personality...it is incredibly out of my realm of childhood, mothering and experiences (having grown up with only girl sisters and cousins) but I'm learning to let go and let him be the little person that God has designed him to be! And really, it's quite fun once I get passed the worms and what not. ...Oh, but all that is for another post on another day :) We are so thankful to say that Desmond has not had one seizure since being hospitalized last June. He is still on a small daily dose of seizure medication and his neurologist is nearly positive that his epilepsy is one he will grow out of very soon. That is the best outcome we could have ever prayed for. SO THANKFUL.

And then there is me...Between coaching and being a mom I've stayed pretty much constantly busy but in only the best ways possible. I just wrapped up a packed cheer season at my alma mater and I absolutely loved my first season coaching here. I could go on and on but truly, I've found my niche and I am so excited for the coming season and every single one there after. Motherhood has been a whirlwind but when is it not? Or maybe I'm the only one flying by the seat of my pants ;) Three years old hasn't been easy, much harder than two some days (cough-most days-cough) ...I fully understand the meaning of 'threenager' and I've found that an earlier bedtime is key when it comes to keeping mine and Tony's sanity :) I'm always learning more about myself and my son as I venture through this whole parenting thing...it's scary, terrifying and the biggest gift of my LIFE! .....and that's why we've decided to have another one. Ya know, a baby. You all know since the only people who read this blog are family and FB friends..but that's right, we are growing another human and it's so awesome. I mean, the first trimester was awesome and miserable..second trimester has been awesome and STARVING-all-the-time. I enjoy pregnancy (so far..knock on wood!) and I am absolutely fascinated with this little person and who he or she is! EEEK!

So that is it. Us in the quickest recap before bed I could come up with. I've got a lot on my heart lately and I find typing it all out therapeutic in a way...it's strictly selfish you see :) I have ideas of blogging about mothering a son, cloth diapering, summer plans, home buying/renting, pregnancy and so on...so run away now  and never turn back before you get too bored! ha.

Thanks for reading friends. Be posting again soon!

great so far!

after my run tonight
It's been a great week! Weight Watchers is actually going really well. I am working through so many issues and I only started this 6 days ago. I feel like food isnt controlling my thought life, I am less stressed because I'm not worried about what or when I will eat. I feel better physically, I am less sluggish and I feel healthy and hydrated. I feel proud to know that I am treating my body well, that I am setting a good example for my son, that I am on track to losing weight, I am doing my self a huge favor in the long run...and even the short run! I've dieted some in the past and it's always this embarrassing, hidden, dont-anybody-talk-to-me-about-it type of thing. And I dreaded every day..but weight watchers is actually doable. It's not banning everything that taste good, it's simply being conscious of when you eat and not over eating. And when people encourage me I actually like it! Before it made me feel sick, like "oh wow, they really do think I'm fat" ...but with WW it's different, it is such a widely known program and so many do it. Plus I feel like the encouragement is supportive and it gives even more reason to work towards my goal. Even just after 6 days, I feel like I could never turn back. They say starting is the hardest part and I agree, the first couple days we're really hard but my attitude and outlook has completely changed, plus some awesome advice helped me realize how to properly do the WW program (Thank you Jess and Krystle!). Now I am getting used to it and it's something I plan to make a lifestyle out of. If I have no boundaries, things just get out of control and I dont want to be there ever again. My goal weight is a way off but that doesnt discourage me like it used it because I am being proactive, I feel like I am finally on that road, making this journey and nothing will stop. I imagine seeing results will really help too :) Tony already thinks he can see a difference which is pretty funny, I dont know that you can lose a noticeable amount of weight in 5 days (because he made the comment yesterday) but hey! it makes me feel great! It motivates me even more and that is what matters. I have really actually enjoyed working out this week too. 4 out of 6 days I have worked out which is fantastic for me. The other two days we're during our cheer camp with lasted all day in the hot sun so I was pooped (and sun burnt!) by the time I got home at night...but next week there wont be any long days like that so I look forward to more power walks, runs and Zumba...Which was a BLAST! I cannot wait to do it again..I was sweating more than when I did the Insanity workout. You dont really think about how hard it is though because you are focused on dancing and following the instructor's moves. almost kind of a club atmosphere (minus the depravity lol) it was dark except for neon lights and no mirrors (loved that because I hate watching myself dance!)...totally different than any dance class I've ever been too. I really look forward to going back! Tonight we went to a local middle school and used the track. We met my sister and her husband (the kids came with us in the strollers) down there. We power walked a mile and then I tried my best to do a mile on my own. It was hard but I was able to complete it in 12 minutes which I thought for sure it would be longer than that. I've never really ran a mile before...I don't run. I'm more of a short bursts of energy type person. For example, Tony ran the mile the entire time in about 6 minutes which is obviously waay better than me but when we do Insanity together I keep up with him and I am sometimes able to do more than him. So even though 12 minutes probably seems lame, to me it's a good start. My goal is to eventually be able to run the entire thing. I just want to see myself make progress towards that. I think the best part about the whole thing is having such a great support system. Tony is so supportive but never pushy. He tells me he loves me the way I am but he wants me to be happy...he knows how deep these issues go, he has listened to me sob over this countless times.. He is so loving and tender about it and it drives me even more. I also have great support from my sister who is also doing WW with me, we have a little group with my mom and sister Em on facebook where we post recipes, motivation, encouragement etc. So pretty much, like I said, this week has been great. It's been a whole new experience for me but I am so happy that I am going in this direction! I lie awake at night totally thrilled about my future in a body that I can feel confident in. It seems lofty but I will get there. I have no doubt about it :)
I'm barely staying awake but I just wanted to post real quick thing about cheer camp this week. It was hot, long and a heck of a lot of work...but such a valuable experience for my kids and us coaches! They had fun and totally exceeded my expectations! Now I am even more psyched for competition! I am off for the weekend and I plan to spend as much time with Tony and Des as possible, being away from them both all day during camp was hard...I am definitely happy to be able to sleep in a little tomorrow too (at least past 7 anyways)! I will blog again on Sunday and say whether I lost any weight or not! Pray that I do! :)

life lately...

Ah my good ol blog. Im back to update you on my very normal life! lol. Desmond is always busy these days. He fell out of the crib yesterday for the first time. Thankfully he didnt hurt himself, just a minute or so of crying and comforting from mom. We turned his crib around so the shorter end is right against the wall, and the back part sleighs up so there's no way he could get over that..not yet at least. We are going to put a toddler bed in his room in the mean time just so he can get used to the idea. Im hoping he will want to be a 'big boy' and voluntarily sleep in it :) haha...well, we'll see. I also think the fall really scared him so I dont know that he will be trying that again soon. Im just not ready to go cold turkey with the crib. We all (Dad and grandparents alike) agree he isnt ready for a toddler bed yet, he's too wild ..and he loves his crib SO much. I dont have the heart to take it away..so hopefully it will be a slow but smooth transition to eventually sleeping in a toddler bed :)

The sun has been shining almost every day! Lots of time spent with the family lately. Im still loving 'One Thousand Things' and counting what I am thankful for. It is changing my heart in a grand way ♥ Im going to be posting more on that note soon... Happy May! Summer is nearly here!
