Hey!

Im not gonna lie...this totally made my day
[be sure to put the music player on pause...scroll down and look to the right]

have a lovely Sunday

It's a gorgeous Sunday full of blue skies and sunshine. I cant help but smile this morning. I have a day off with my love, Spring has arrived, and Im a whopping 27 weeks pregnant. It's a lovely way to end the week to say the least. Tony and I are going to hit up costco for lunch (you cant beat a polish dog & a soda for a $1.50!), head to the park for some sunshine,reading and ipod listening & then over to my parents for dinner and an evening with my family. I just love days like these...even when money is [really] tight, Tony is completely bombarded with homework and Im a bit tired from pregnancy, poor sleep and the anemia- things are STILL good. Everytime I feel our precious baby kick I just cant help but be totally filled with joy...and these days Im lucky because he moves a lot! Last night I felt his little feet pushing out and moving across my belly. He did this for a good five-ten minutes. It's just amazing...I will surely miss being pregnant but having my son in my arms will be SO worth it.

Have a lovely rest of your weekend my friends...and if you feel so inclined, check out the fun below:

Many, many things...too many to list actually..but a few; I got married in March. Flew on an airplane for the first time when we went on our Disneyland honeymoon. I didnt make any new year's resolutions.

Portland in October for Ingrid Michaelson concert.
Im so ready to go back to the coast again.

lefties

A funny little fact about Tony and I; we are both left handed! In tribute to that our amazing best friends, Ty & Kim sent us "The Left Hander's 2010 Calendar" in the mail! We just got it today!

If you notice, the binding is on the opposite side, this is very convenient for lefties as its huge pain trying to write with your hand resting on that! Here are some quotes from the lefty calendar...

"It's as if we all belong to our own unique club" -Rae Lindsay (left hander)

"Left handers have a higher 'fluid' intelligence and better vocabulary that the majority of the population. This is perhaps why there are of them in creative professions, such as music, art and writing." -Dr. Alan Searleman, St. Lawrence University, NY

Tina Fey is left handed. nuff said. (my paraphrasing ha)
Thank you so much you two! We love you guys!

Leap Year - trailer

This movie "Leap Year" looks really cute...I don't like a lot of stupid formulaic chick flicks, so anything with Matthew McConaughey or Kate Hudson...but you really cannot go wrong with Amy Adams, Ive loved everything I have ever seen her in (Enchanted, Julie & Julia, The Office, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day). Plus its set in Ireland and the guy she unexpectedly falls in love with kind of looks like my husband (at least in this movie he does). so yes, I will definitely be seeing this! :)

Today is my sister, Jessi's due date, but no baby yet! My niece could come any time now so I ask that everyone be in prayer for Jess; prayer for a healthy baby & a smooth delivery would be greatly appreciated :) We are SO excited, I can't wait to meet my new baby niece!
Yesterday I saw The Christmas Carol with my nephew, mom & sisters. Oh man, it was SO good. I haven't read the book but I'm pretty sure that the movie was pretty much straight out of the Charles Dickens 'Christmas Carol'. It was pretty darn intense! Much more intense than the previews make it out to be. Don't take a five year old to it or probably anyone under 10 because it's got some really scary parts. But I definitely recommend this movie for adults! The story has such a great message, a message that everyone needs to hear, especially in these times of recession. Plus it's done by Disney so the whole movie is amazing, especially the music and the animation. I can tell this Christmas Carol movie is going to be a family holiday favorite along with our others; White Christmas, Muppet's Christmas Carol, The Christmas Story, Elf, The Grinch & so on :) I thought I would post the picture & the recipe of the yummy banana bread I made! I hope everyone has a lovely first weekend of November! May it be blessed!

I feel like kind of a sinner today. I did something really bad. You won't believe it but...I started listening to Christmas music!!!! I know! It's awful right? Halloween hasn't even passed yet! I usually wait until the day after Halloween to start the Christmas festivities (which always starts with listening to the classic Christmas songs) but I just couldn't wait you guys! It was horrible...the "holiday" genre on my zune was calling out my name and I gave in...like a Christmas glutton. but...I must say this, it was 100% WORTH IT! Man is Christmas wonderful in every little way or what? First and foremost what it stands for, The birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. It's such a beautiful story. But along with that there is all the wonderful time spent with the ones you love & the music..the music is amazing. I'm not talking about this Nsync or Mariah Carey crap... we're talking about Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Rosemary Clooney. Only the best of course. I think one of my favorite things about Christmas is listening to Christmas music with all the lights off except the tree & just sitting their soaking it all in. I remember doing that with my mom and dad as a little girl on Christmas Eve...Tony remembers the same with his parents. There's just something special about it. Seriously though...I have to STOP talking about Christmas! I won't blog about again until Halloween is over... i promise. but I can't promise that I won't be listening to Christmas songs on pandora ;)

Today Tony & I went to the pumpkin patch with my family. It was so fun and festive. They had pony rides, a petting zoo & lots and lots of pumpkins to pick from. We had a great time. There's nothing I love more than spending time with my family. Also. Today (the 25th) is my dad's 63rd birthday! I can say that my dad is the best person I know...everyone who knows him will tell you that he is the most kind, caring & selfless man, it really is the truth. Im blessed to call him my dad. I love him very much :]

Here are the pictures from the Pumpkin patch today (as well as the rest from my little Fall photo shoot I did yesterday):

It's Monday which means another busy week of school, coaching & homework...life sure is packed these days. I kind of really like it though! I know, it's very weird..but I guess it's a good thing though! On a side note...Tony and I are wanting to find a new apartment asap. Where we live just doesn't feel safe plus we could get a better place for what we are paying. We are looking for a place with (2 or 1 bedroom), a washer/dryer & dishwasher for no more than $620 a month. If you come across anything like that please let us know! & in the mean time pray that the right place comes along :)
I hope everyone has a lovely Monday. God Bless You!

ROAD TRIP!

Tomorrow morning (technically today...its nearly 2 am!) I will be going on a road trip to Portland with my sisters! eee! We are going in celebration of Jessi's birthday (my eldest & also 8 months pregnant sister!!) which happened to fall on the same day as the Ingrid Michaelson concert at the Wonder Ballroom! Surprisingly enough, my two sisters and I have never done a road trip together like this before so we are really excited about it! We are going to be staying at one of the wonderfully historic McMenamins...which i am also very excited about. I love McMenamins, I make it a point to visit one every time I go to Portland. Jessi lived up there for a long time so she is going to be taking us to her favorite restaurants! mm hmm...its just going to be a wonderful little getaway! How great is it that both my sisters are absolutely two of my best friends!? They are such blessings to me. ..I have a feeling there will be a lot of good music, fantastic food, lots of laughing, yummy Starbucks & many, many pictures to be taken :)

Hope everyone has a very Fall-ish rest of their weekend!
Pumpkin hunting & carving will be happening soon! yay. I love this time of year!
God Bless!

wonderful wonderful Fall!

The weather was GORGEOUS today... Fall is here my friends & I hope it is here to stay. Just last week it was in the high 90s..yuck..im so over the heat. Today was the first day it really felt like fall. I was walking out of Old Navy (where I got a pair of really cute jeans for 6 bucks...another reason to smile!) when it hit me..the cool breeze, the crisp fall air, the fact that I was buying jean! I realized that the Summer is over and my favorite season has begun...praise God for that!

I got my Ingrid Michaelson ticket in the mail today! My sisters and I are going to take a trip up to Portland for her concert on my eldest sister's birthday which is going to be in just a couple weeks. It's going to be just us girls and one of our favorite musicians...if you have never listened to her music please do..she is wonderful, great music to listen to on a cool Fall evening, windows rolled down..mmm. Just lovely.
I start school tomorrow! It's kind of weird...Im excited & nervous all at the same time..which often accompany each other. Im not dreading school like I used to because Im going to school to pursue my career...my passion..one of the reasons God created me & that is to counsel teen girls. Im very content & at peace about my choice to pursue high school counseling. Im excited to start this new chapter of my life..of our life.
Also, this weekend is my sister, Emmi's birthday & Tony birthday! October is a very busy month for our family...we have 6 birthday in our family this month...both my sisters, Tony, my dad & my niece and nephew..and maybe my niece who is on her way, she is due on November 7th but you never know! I love this time of year because everything I love comes to fast...first everyones birthday, then pumpkin hunting at " White Country Farm" then Halloween, Christmas time begins in November for us! Thanksgiving, Winter, Picking out the tree...Christmas break...it is just all so wonderful & Im sharing it now with a husband who loves it all just as much as I do :)

To go along with the wonderful fall weather I downloaded a song that I discovered on Pandora this morning. It's called "Till Kingdom Come" by Coldplay. It reminds me of so much of what Tony & I have been through together, if you know how long we waited for each other..you will get it. Here are the lyrics, they are special to me.

Til Kingdom Come
"Still my heart and hold my tongue
I feel my time
My time has come
Let me in
Unlock the door
I never felt this way before
And the wheels just keep on turning
The drummer begins to drum
I don’t know which way I’m going
I don’t know which way I’ve come
Hold my head inside your hands
I need someone who understands I need someone, someone who hears
For you I’ve waited all these years
For you I’d wait 'til kingdom come
Until my day, my day is done
And say you'll come and set me free
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me
In your tears and in your blood
In your fire and in your flood
I hear you laugh, I heard you sing
I wouldn’t change a single thing
And the wheels just keep on turning
The drummers begin to drum
I don’t know which way I’m going
I don’t know what I’ve become
For you I’d wait 'til kingdom come
Until my days, my days are done
And say you'll come and set me free
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me"

"Blue Room" by Perry Como

As Im sure most of you know, Tony & I are huge fans of old music ...Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Perry Como, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, The Andrews Sisters...you name it. It's pretty much all we ever listen to..& our wedding was nothing but music from the 1940s & 50s... it was amazing! Last weekend I downloaded a song called "Blue Room" by Perry Como. I had heard it on the Mad Men soundtrack and loved it. As Tony & I were driving to Porters for our 6 Month Wedding anniversary we realized how perfect the lyrics were. We've always had songs that were "our songs"...but this song definitely is perfect for this new place in our lives being newly married & just really enjoying our marriage. As we went antique-ing the morning after we stayed at the Bybee B&B for our anniversary I found the sheet music for "Blue Room"..I hope to learn it on piano, & then someday when we have a home, I want a blue room & we can frame the sheet music and hang it there. Watch the video below (be sure to pause the music player on the left), it's the movie that "Blue Room" is from..and that is the wonderful Perry Como..his voice is like velvet.. I've loved his music since I was a little girl.

The Simple Things in Life...

It really is the simple things in life. This next week Tony & I will be starting school full time...which means along with work we are going to be very, very busy. I have gotten in the habit of always looking forward to the next big thing, and when I don't have that I'm not as happy.. it's just not very healthy to be honest! I say that because I need to live in the now...not the whole 'live in the moment' crap...I'm just saying I need to enjoy the present, the little things in life & not be anxious for tomorrow [Matthew 6:34]. So in tribute to the start of this new chapter in our lives I am going to make a list of the simple things that make the drudgery of the day to day exceptionally lovely & just..worth it! here it goes...
  • coffee. not just any coffee, Starbucks coffee :] especially an iced pumpkin spice latte on a fall day.
  • waking up next to my husband. It doesn't matter how early our day starts, waking up next to the person I love more than life itself is just absolutely the best way to start the day.

  • Getting lost in a good book. nuff said!

  • a classic music, candle lit bubble bath at the end of a long day.

  • appreciating God's creation..a sunset, a child, a beautiful landscape, your pet...it's all around you.

  • staying up late with my husband. We always end up staying up for like an hour after we get in bed...we pray, discuss our day, have deep talks, vent, cuddle, laugh..even cried before. This is probably my favorite part of the day :)

  • music that just makes you feel good. For me it's; Ingrid Michaelson, Feist, Jack Johnson, Taylor Swift..& music I have lots of emotion tied to like the music from my wedding ceremony (I listen to it almost everyday) & my favorite composer Adrian Johnston.

  • finding little things you love. For me it's antiques (from the 1950s & before) that match my home or that have something special about them. I also love vintage bird stuff..pictures, stamps, dishes etc. they just make me so happy.

  • a heart warming conversation with a friend. Even better...praying with a friend..get both & that's a wonderful gift.

  • Blunkfast...which is Tony & my version of breakfast for lunch or brinner which is breakfast for dinner. Both are fun & even better when shared with someone you love.

  • naps.

  • being crafty. I made a french memo board last week and I'm still bragging about it!

  • doing something for someone just to make them happy. I surprise Tony with a clean apartment every once and a while :]

  • spending time with family. Probably one of my favoritest (yes, I said favoritest!) things in life.

  • journaling...I love to journal..actually, this blog is much like a journal for me. It feels good to express yourself.

  • finding a new blog to read. Seriously, there are millions of them out there so go find some new beautiful inspiration! Check out the "sites I follow" column..you might find something you love!

  • curling up on the couch, drinking hot tea in an antique tea cup & watching period film like Marie Antoinette and Pride & Prejudice.

  • a new candle that smells really, really freaking good. I suggest the pumpkin spice candle from Pier One, especially now that it's fall.

  • Good food. Totally makes a bad day better.

  • Listing the blessings in your life & then thank God for each and every one of them. You soon realize how blessed you really are...& that of course makes any day better.

6 month Wedding anniversary!

Tony & I had a wonderful 6 month wedding anniversary! Dinner at Porters was delicious as always! We got dessert to go & shared it back at the B&B along with a bottle of champagne. We discovered that there was a tv in the armoire...which we didnt know last time. We were very happy about that...we watched a horrible, horrible local made movie called Batface & Birdbrain..apparently is was made in Ashland..it was a spoof on batman...definitely the worst made movie & worst acting ever in the history of the world! Why did we watch you ask? We about laughed till we cried making fun of it. I seriously hope to find this on youtube & then I am going to send it in to The Soup. Anywho..the evening was wonderful. We woke up early & had an amazing breakfast of poached pears, bacon, Havarti eggs, potatoes, fresh fruit & peach crapes. We checked out at 11 & then headed to some antique shops. We found some great stuff which you can see in pictures below. All in all it was a very relaxing yet fun anniversary!
{how awesome is this? I saw it this morning at the Bybee B&B out by the coy pond!}
{the back porch of Bybee B&B...so wonderful}
{these coys were giant! & very beautiful too!}
{the wonderful Bybee B&B...we plan to stay here every year!}
{Tony & his Jonny Walker Blue label Scotch...pretty intense stuff..ide rather have a martini}
{aren't these amazing? we got them at an antique store for a buck each! they are from the 50s or 60s...we are going to hang them in our house..the Union Creek one matches my Martha Stewart kitchen stuff!}
{another great find at an antique store.. "Abbott's Bitters"! we were so excited to find it because one; it's an antique from 1920 & two Abbott is our last name!}

{us before we headed out for some antique-ing...it is so wonderful to be married to a man who appreciates antiques! Im a lucky woman!}

you can see all the pictures from our anniversary here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ezerkenegdo_photography/sets/72157622305229583/

so I said in my last post that I would post pictures of the memo board I am making when I was finished with it...well I just got done with it and I am very happy with the turn out! Ive never really done anything like this before, like I said...im not very crafty so this was kind of exciting for me! I am going to start trying to do different crafts and stuff because I have a very distinct taste in patterns and colors...for my bridal shower Ruby got me this awesome book called "The Big Ass Book of Crafts" ...it is seriously awesome, there are soo many amazing things you can make! Im excited to try stuff out!

Here is the board before I decorated it with pictures, postcards etc. It was super easy to make. Just fabric, a canvas, ribbon, buttons, glue and staples.

& here is the memo board after I decorated it. The postcards in the memo board are from the late 1800s, I have quite a few, I bought them at a yard sale a few Summers ago for like 50 cents each. I love little antique things, they make me so happy! I also have an old photo booth photo Tony and I had done probably 3 or 4 years ago, a Polaroid from Jess & Nathan, a program from our wedding (on the left), my nephew's Tball picture, a "Just Married" button we wore on our Disneyland Honeymoon, Catholic Saint card, a vintage pony birthday card, little bird, nest, cage stamp cutouts all over (I'm obsessed with with this stamp set ever since I used them in my wedding invites & programs!) and the note at the top that says "I love you Mrs. Rebekah Abbott!!" was there on my pillow when I woke up the second week we were married...Tony had left for work and had left me that note :] I cherish it to this day. But yeah, I am very happy with the memo board, I hope to have many more successful crafty experiences to come!

This weekend was wonderful just as I thought it would be :) Bryce & Amanda's wedding was great. FYI..my husband looks amazing in a tux, he's just such a man, a very classy man..and its awesome haha.
Pink Martini was freaking AMAZING! we got seats on the lawn up front so we were very happy. We brought crackers, laughing cow cheese, lunch meat, sparkling cider & champagne. It was a lovely time...we drank a mix of champagne & apple-grape sparkling cider out of our antique depression era wine glasses :] The concert was just absolutely wonderful..Pink Martini really knows how to put on a show! I even started to tear up at some points! I get really moved by music, what can I say! After the concert Tony and I went to the lounge at the Bella Union in Jacksonville! It was just a picture perfect evening with my husband. Im constantly reminded at times like this how incredibly important it is that you marry the person you consider you best friend...and by that I mean the person you can spend every waking moment with and you dont ever get annoyed or sick of them..the person you laugh with the most, have deep talks with the most, the person you can just sit and do nothing together and you still love it. That is so Tony for me...and man are we blessed to have eachother.
[this will be the view from the cottage we are staying in!]

So I am very, very excited. Tony and I will both be starting school full time on September 28th so we decided that we wanted one last hurrah before we become slaves to school until June 2010! We booked to stay at a little beach cottage in Brookings this Sunday evening! We will leave Sunday morning, spend the day at the beach, go to dinner somewhere nice...go to the beach cottage, hot tub with a little champagne maybe...watch a movie, listen to the ocean! Tonight Tony and I are going to plan which beaches we want to explore! There are dozens of amazing beaches between Brookings & Gold Beach so we are going to look at the on google earth & find the ones that we MUST go to. I like Brookings a lot. It has such beautiful beaches, cute little shops, good dining...and I am very familiar with it because I have been there many times. Plus its not more than 2 hours away from where we live. But yes, I cannot wait :)

[Tony & Bryce Summer 2006 in the Starbucks parking lot. Good times!]

I am very excited for this weekend! Saturday is our good friend Bryce's wedding! Bryce is a great friend of Tony & I. Actually the night I met Tony back in 2004, Bryce was there too. Bryce has seen Tony & my relationship grow over the last 5 & a half years & now we get to see him tie the knot! Tony is part of the wedding party of course & my whole family is going to their wedding. My family has known Bryce well over the years too, he's joined us on Christmas festivities, camping, bbq's etc...so this is a momentous occasion for all of us! We are so happy for Bryce & his bride to be, Amanda!

THEN on Sunday Tony & I are going to the Britt Festival to see one of my FAVORITE bands "Pink Martini"!!! I am sooo excited! I have loved Pink Martini since I was probably about 10 or 11, my sister had their cd and I would listen to it ALL the time. Not to mention I love Britt, its beautiful, relaxing & just an all around great experience. Its also neat because Pink Martini is from our very own Portland! I found this quote on their website, it best describes their genre of music...

“Pink Martini is like a romantic Hollywood musical of the 1940s or 50s – but with a global perspective which is modern,” says founder and artistic director Thomas M. Lauderdale. “We bring melodies and rhythms from different parts of the world together to create something which is new and beautiful.”

I can't imagine anything better than that! They are so incredibly talented, not just vocally but they play all kinds of instruments (piano, guitar, cello, congas, violin, trumpet, harp, trombone, upright base etc!) which I love. I can't wait for this sunday! It will be amazing! I hope to get there early to our seat on the lawn RIGHT up front! :) In tribute to seeing Pink Martini this sunday I made a music playlist of all my favorite Pink Martini songs & posted it on the blog! Make sure you go through and listen to all the tracks, every single one is wonderful! "Andalucia" is my ALL time favorite!
