bad day turned...amazing.

So although this day started off to be pretty sucky (read about it here), it ended very well :) Today we received our approval letter for OHP in the mail. We have been waiting and praying fervently ever since we discussed our payment plan at my last appointment on December 28th. Our insurance would only cover some leaving us to pay a very large chunk every month through August for just my OB appointments. It was a big amount that we just dont have lying around, Im not sure who does have that kind of money. We found out that we could possibly have our insurance through Tony's work and then the Oregon Health Plan as a secondary insurance to pick up what ours insurance doesnt. A few weeks ago we filled out the lengthy application and turned in just about every document we own. It was an exhausting process and midway we considered just forgetting about it because the paperwork was so incredibly long. But we powered through and were able to get everything together and sometime around the 13th we turned in our OHP application. And today I got a letter from DHS stating that I am approved for the Oregon Health Plan Plus medical program! I will receive assistance through my pregnancy and then for two months after the baby is born. This is a huge huge blessing for us. I am just so happy that we were able to qualify ...God is good and a giant weight has been lifted off our shoulders.

Since my appointment this morning was canceled (and is now not until the 11th) I broke down and bought a fetal heart doppler. Ive gone back and forth on whether to get one because a lot of times they dont work and I didnt want to get discouraged or worried. Tony stopped by Rite Aid and got a cheap $20 one called the Graco prenatal heart listener. We toyed around with it and heard something but we werent positive on what we hearing. So this afternoon I brought it over to my mom's house and she took a listen. We were able to listen together because there's a way to listen with two sets of headphones. Low and behold my mom found our little baby's heartbeat! and that sound Tony and I were hearing was the heartbeat..we just werent positive. We were expecting a thud thud sound but really its actually a very fast woosh woosh sound..and it's a background sound. My sister Jessi took a listen to and was able to hear the baby kicking and moving...how incredible! Our baby is the size of a lemon and we can already hear it...and what is exciting is that the heartbeat and kicks will only get louder and stronger as the weeks go on because the baby is growing very fast now. I am so glad we got this cheapy little doppler, it really has put my heart at ease. I love just laying and listening to my baby...it's really helping me connect with our little peach :)

My mom and I were researching strollers tonight and I found the travel system (the stroller and infant car seat together) that I am completely in love with. I wanted one that looked quality, was black and was safe...well we found the one and it is really cute! I love it...and it will be good for a boy or girl..so I can use it again and again with my babys in the future! You can see more pictures of it here...I love the design with the black and yellow, my mom thinks it looks British :) haha....we like to pretend we are British in this family. Be sure to look at the pictures close up! It's perfect and I am very excited about it!

Pregnancy Week 13

The baby:

This week my sweet little baby is about 3 inches long, that's the size of a peach! Ive started calling him/her my little peach :)

The baby may be able to put a thumb in his or her mouth this week, although the sucking muscles aren't completely developed yet.

Bone is beginning to replace cartilage and the ribs are appearing

The nose and chin are now well defined

The external genitalia are well defined making it is possible to determine the baby's gender

I can't feel it yet, but the baby can move in a jerky fashion, flexing the arms and kicking the legs

The kidneys and urinary tract are beginning to function

Even though the baby is swallowing amniotic fluid, all nourishment is being provided by the placenta now.

The mom:

this mum is very happy to finally be 13 weeks! I am now officially in the second trimester and thankfully at this point, chances of a miscarriage drop drastically. The second trimester is considered the 'honeymoon period" of pregnancy. I like that...and ya know, I am feeling pretty dang good these days. My morning sickness comes and goes every once and while but as a whole it's pretty much gone. And the constant worry has really subsided as well since I have made it to my 2nd trimester. Although the one thing that hasnt changed is the fact that I still require a lot of sleep. At least 10 hours a night, sometimes (actually most the time) more. I still have my up and down moods but Im not as down as I was in the previous weeks. I purchased (well my mom did, her gift to me...thanks mom!) my first pair of maternity jeans at Motherhood Maternity this last week and I love them! So comfortable plus they're cute! I will admit, I was very excited to go buy my first pair of maternity jeans. Im excited to really start showing, I know it probably wont be until late February, probably more March but that will be here before we know it! All in all pregnancy is going just wonderfully, I cannot wait for my next appointment (this coming Monday) where I will get to hear the heartbeat again. This little peach is so loved already, I cannot wait to meet my sweet baby.

Life other than pregnancy is going just lovely. School and work keeps Tony and I incredibly busy these days so much that our little time together is very much cherished. I miss my husband pretty much all day everyday but one nice thing is that we get to cuddle and go to bed together every night, I love that...it was worth waiting for too. We made reservations for the Jacksonville Inn for dinner on Valentines Day! I cant wait, we havent been there since 6 months before our wedding, & yes...we actually went and celebrated 6 months left of our engagement! It was also our 4 year 6 month dating anniversary so that counts too..what can I say, we really like to celebrate things. We also love getting dressed up, Tony would wear his Alfani suit every single day if he could...and I wouldnt mind either because he looks amazing in it :)

and OH! did I mention that LOST will be back in less than a week...NEXT TUESDAY people! Tony and I are sooo excited, and what's awesome about it.. Tony's one week night off from work just happens to be Tuesdays! We have been recording and watching it online for years, now we can actually snuggle up and watch it together when it airs...oh the joys!

Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. We spent lots of time with our family over the past few days, I loved every second of it as always. Today we went and got our Christmas tree from a tree farm that we have gone to for years, the family who runs it remember us each year, they are very nice christian people. I think we will always go there. Tony and I found a really cute smaller tree and then decorated it this afternoon. It's so perfect I just love it! It's so fun that this is our first Christmas time together as a married couple...everything is so special. All around it was a very blessed weekend. I can definitely say that God never ceases to amaze me :) I'm off to go snuggle up with the my husband next to the glow of the Christmas tree and watch "It's a wonderful life"... I hope everyone else had a fun and family filled Thanksgiving too! Here are some photos taken this weekend.

Give Thanks

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, my second favorite holiday other than Christmas.
In tribute to this wonderful day I am going to share a few of the things in my life I am most thankful for.
  • A relationship with Jesus Christ, A Savior who gave His life for mine, Who forgives always and loves unconditionally, my amazing Creator. my life is His, He holds my heart in the palm of His hand. He is what I am ultimately thankful for.

  • My husband, my other half, I am incomplete without him...he is my best friend and a selfless provider. I am thankful for his giving and caring heart. I love him very much.

  • My family, I have been blessed with an incredibly supportive, loving and close family. They are the best people I know and I love them dearly.
  • Our wonderful little apartment and southern Oregon. They are precious to me, I love where we live and the little home we have created.

This is Tony and my first Thanksgiving together as a married couple :) Unfortunately Tony has to work in the morning but thankfully it's double time and a half and he's only working until 11:30 am. While he is at work I will be over watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade with my family. It's tradition, I would never miss it, it just wouldn't be Thanksgiving with out it! I seriously love it. After that Tony and I will go spend some time with his family and then return to my sister's house to eat Thanksgiving dinner with my side of the family in the afternoon. And then of course black Friday shopping the morning after!

I hope everyone has a very special Thanksgiving tomorrow, be sure you count your blessings on this Thanksgiving Day. We all have so much the be thankful for.

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. -Colossians 3:15-17

New home & baby Coco

So, we are all moved in to our new apartment! My dad, sister and brother in law helped us move all day yesterday and we were pretty much all moved in by 7 pm! Tony and I are in love with our new apartment, it's just beautiful, so new and bright. I feel like it's a very welcoming little home now. We both agree that we feel like this place is 'home' for us. We got SO blessed with this place...I still can't believe we are paying only $10 more than we were at that dump we just moved from! This place is waay nicer than like all apartments I have been in, and i know it's because the landlords take really good care of this place. Plus they are not tolerant of any partying, drugs, crime etc. I guess a police officer lives here and said she scouted out the area before moving here and it a very safe place to live. Thank God. We just are so happy to be here. I finished the decorating this morning and then took some pictures...trust me, they dont do it justice :)

the bedroom is great, love having a ceiling fan! Also, i have to say our iron rod bed frame circa 1880 is probably my favorite thing ever...great find Mom and Dad!

i love this huuuge kitchen, tons of cupboard and counter space plus a dishwasher which we are SO thankful for. It's seriously huge though, i love it.
very spacious bathroom with fantastic lighting.
looove the living room
washer and dryer tucked away in a closet. nuff said!
& all my wonderful Martha Stewart stuff :)
Have I mentioned that I have the cutest baby niece ever? Well it's true...I did a little photoshoot of her today while my mom, sister and I were over visiting her and her momma. The picture turned out SO sweet. You can see those in the slideshow below as well as some photos from Saturday evening which was Cosette's first day home from the hospital! Uncle Tony, Uncle Erik and her three cousins (Donnelly, Liam and Ben) got to meet and hold her for the first time..the pictures are priceless...take a look:

MY NIECE IS HERE! MY NIECE IS HERE!

  • born at 8:55 pm on Thursday November 19, 2009
  • This precious little girl weighs 8 lbs 2 oz & measures at 20 inches
  • She is just so precious!...see for yourself:

No name as of yet, Jessi and Nathan are deciding tonight :) Although Jess really wanted to deliver naturally it just wasn't happening, she labored all day and there was no progress so in the end they had to do what was best for mom and the baby. Everything worked our wonderfully though... she is healthy and already nursing with in an hour and a half after she was born! I am yet to see Jessi but I hear she is recovering well from the c-section. I only got a few pictures (some my mom took too) because I only saw her for about 1 minutes, but I get to see her and Jess some more tomorrow! I cant wait to see her again...What a huge blessing in a tiny little package :)

This is going to be a big week for our family! Tony and I will be moving into our new apartment this Sunday (11/22) with the help of family and friends! We are literally counting down the days, we've got less than a week now! And the most exciting part of this week is the arrival of my niece! If Jessi doesn't go into labor by Wednesday the doctor is going to induce her and hopefully the baby will be born by the end of the week! There is nothing more exciting than a new baby in the family! This will be my second niece and then I also have two nephews. I love being an aunt, these kids are a HUGE part of my life and I honestly cant imagine my life with out them, I love them so much. And I love my soon-to-be born niece in a huge way already! I cannot wait to see how beautiful she is and to hold her for the first time. What a blessing she already is :)

Well, Christmas is upon us my friends! The Christmas music is in full swing these days and it is glorious! Thanksgiving is just next week and its very exciting for us because it is Tony and my first Thanksgiving together being married! In fact this is our first holiday season together being married which is very exciting for us because we both LOVE this time of year. Man would it suck if Tony was one of those guys who didn't care about Christmas or even worse, didn't like Christmas! I am extremely blessed because Tony loves this time of year just as much as we both love Disneyland and that is A LOT! The Sunday after Thanksgiving we are going to the Christmas tree farm with the family, I cant wait to have a pretty tree all decorated in our beautiful new apartment. Tony and I both have a busy week of school and work along with all the packing we have to do, plus our niece who is expected any day now :) Then next week I have school one day and Tony is off all week because of Thanksgiving. There's so much excitement and great times with family this time of year, hence the reason I love it so much.
I hope everyone has a blessed Monday, I'm off to Starbucks with Jess!

Saturday, November 7, 2009

Today is my sister, Jessi's due date, but no baby yet! My niece could come any time now so I ask that everyone be in prayer for Jess; prayer for a healthy baby & a smooth delivery would be greatly appreciated :) We are SO excited, I can't wait to meet my new baby niece!
Yesterday I saw The Christmas Carol with my nephew, mom & sisters. Oh man, it was SO good. I haven't read the book but I'm pretty sure that the movie was pretty much straight out of the Charles Dickens 'Christmas Carol'. It was pretty darn intense! Much more intense than the previews make it out to be. Don't take a five year old to it or probably anyone under 10 because it's got some really scary parts. But I definitely recommend this movie for adults! The story has such a great message, a message that everyone needs to hear, especially in these times of recession. Plus it's done by Disney so the whole movie is amazing, especially the music and the animation. I can tell this Christmas Carol movie is going to be a family holiday favorite along with our others; White Christmas, Muppet's Christmas Carol, The Christmas Story, Elf, The Grinch & so on :) I thought I would post the picture & the recipe of the yummy banana bread I made! I hope everyone has a lovely first weekend of November! May it be blessed!

apartment news!

This morning after church Tony and I went and turned in our application for an apartment that we LOVE. About an hour after we informing them we left our app in the drop box we got a call from them telling us that we should put in our 30 day notice & write a check to put a hold on the apartment! On Thursday Tony and I took a tour of the apartment...this is why it is awesome and we love it!.....
  • it is a new complex. It was built in 2004 so no gross old brown carpet, 80s lighting or ghetto appliances...yaay!
  • they do a background check on everyone who lives there to make sure they dont have anything on their record. They seem very strict about that stuff...so we wont have to worry about creepy drug dealer neighbors. It just feels very safe there. So far everyone I saw when we were at the tour were nice people, they didn't look shady or ghetto like both of our neighbors currently.
  • It's not a studio/loft like we have right now. It is a one bedroom with a door and everything! lol...you learn to appreciate simple things like doors when you don't have one!
  • The kitchen is huge! It is at least twice the size of our current kitchen. It has tons of counter & cupboard space.
  • The landlords arent flakes. Nuff said.
  • The whole apartment has a lot of storage space including a storage closet outside...we've been keeping all our camping gear in Tony's 4 runner because we have no space for it! Im so excited to have places to put all our stuff.
  • The kitchen has a nice big fridge and a DISHWASHER! I cant even comprehend how nice it will be to not have to do dishes by hand or to watch them pile up after a day or too.
  • The lighting is perfect. I don't like dim dungeon like lighting and fluorescent lighting gives me horrible head aches...so yes, the nice up to date lighting is definitely a plus.
  • And the best part about this apartment...it has a washer & dryer tucked away in a cute little closet! We are incredibly thrilled about this!
  • & believe it or not...this place is only $10 dollars a month more than the dump of a place we are currently living in!

This is seriously so perfect and such a blessing! Tony and I are so excited. If everything goes through right we will be able to move in the last week of this month! It will be such a relief to feel safe being home alone and to have a big kitchen to cook in! ...and to be able to do laundry whenever I want.. hooray!!

Tony and I hope to be moving out of our apartment soon. If you don't already know we live in a crap hole. Don't get me wrong, it's cute and cozy because I have decorated it so it doesn't feel so small and ghetto...but what really just sucks about this place is our neighbor is a drug dealer (I'm like 99.9% sure...its a long story but you can just tell with this guy) who plays his sub woofer until the middle of night, smokes like no other to the point where we can smell the smoke in our apartment..constantly asks to use our cell phones, he has people coming over (to buy drugs no doubt) to all hours of the morning. So that is just one of the many reasons we want to get out of here. Yes, we have told the landlord but he doesn't seem to care. All those things aside we want a place with an actual bedroom (currently living in a loft), a dishwasher and a washer and dryer. The main reason we want to move is I really don't feel safe here, sure I have a hand gun, shot gun, a rifle and a very protective husband but this place just feels totally unsafe, especially when I am here alone and Tony is working until 9:30 most nights. I read reviews of this apartment on a website and a woman said that her car has been broken into twice in that last couple months. So pretty much we want to get out of here...fast. It suited us well for the first 7 months of our marriage but now we want something a little nicer. Although our feelings about this place have changed, the memories of our first half of a year of marriage here will still be wonderful and special. It tight financially if we spend a little more a month... but it's totally worth it. Plus I would love to be able to not have dark brown carpet...lol. Seriously, I hate it. Brown is my LEAST favorite color. I don't need fancy furniture or cable tv...all I ask is to NOT have this disgusting poop colored carpet! Soo..back to my point, tomorrow I will be calling a few of the apartments we found that we like, I am praying God opens a door for us, you're prayers would be greatly appreciated as well :)

Tony and I have a new addiction. One of the many things we share is our love for great era films. We started watching the John Adams mini series by HBO this week. If I could recommend any show it would definitely be this one. Not only is the acting, writing, directing, cinematography completely amazing but just simply the historical aspect of it will blow you away. In a way it makes you realize how far away America has gone from the Constitution and what our Founding Fathers desired for our nation. Yet, there are still many citizens of the US that see the importance and dyer need of the ideals of those who founded this great country... & that's why I listen to Glenn Beck everyday. but yes...all should watch the John Adams series, I can definitely say it is a new favorite of mine and Tony's. Watch the trailer:

I feel like kind of a sinner today. I did something really bad. You won't believe it but...I started listening to Christmas music!!!! I know! It's awful right? Halloween hasn't even passed yet! I usually wait until the day after Halloween to start the Christmas festivities (which always starts with listening to the classic Christmas songs) but I just couldn't wait you guys! It was horrible...the "holiday" genre on my zune was calling out my name and I gave in...like a Christmas glutton. but...I must say this, it was 100% WORTH IT! Man is Christmas wonderful in every little way or what? First and foremost what it stands for, The birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. It's such a beautiful story. But along with that there is all the wonderful time spent with the ones you love & the music..the music is amazing. I'm not talking about this Nsync or Mariah Carey crap... we're talking about Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Rosemary Clooney. Only the best of course. I think one of my favorite things about Christmas is listening to Christmas music with all the lights off except the tree & just sitting their soaking it all in. I remember doing that with my mom and dad as a little girl on Christmas Eve...Tony remembers the same with his parents. There's just something special about it. Seriously though...I have to STOP talking about Christmas! I won't blog about again until Halloween is over... i promise. but I can't promise that I won't be listening to Christmas songs on pandora ;)

Today Tony & I went to the pumpkin patch with my family. It was so fun and festive. They had pony rides, a petting zoo & lots and lots of pumpkins to pick from. We had a great time. There's nothing I love more than spending time with my family. Also. Today (the 25th) is my dad's 63rd birthday! I can say that my dad is the best person I know...everyone who knows him will tell you that he is the most kind, caring & selfless man, it really is the truth. Im blessed to call him my dad. I love him very much :]

Here are the pictures from the Pumpkin patch today (as well as the rest from my little Fall photo shoot I did yesterday):

It's Monday which means another busy week of school, coaching & homework...life sure is packed these days. I kind of really like it though! I know, it's very weird..but I guess it's a good thing though! On a side note...Tony and I are wanting to find a new apartment asap. Where we live just doesn't feel safe plus we could get a better place for what we are paying. We are looking for a place with (2 or 1 bedroom), a washer/dryer & dishwasher for no more than $620 a month. If you come across anything like that please let us know! & in the mean time pray that the right place comes along :)
I hope everyone has a lovely Monday. God Bless You!

7 monthaversary!

Today my wonderful husband & I have been married for 7 months! Time sure has flown by. I look at our wedding pictures and it seems like it was literally yesterday. My wedding was amazing, in every single way...it was beautiful, fun & most importantly completely reverent of our Lord and Savior. A wedding isn't just a big party, or a celebrating...it is those things but first and foremost it's a promise to God. A wedding should honor God more than any other day in a person's life...sometimes I get insulted at weddings that just seem kind of like a party, no praise to God...and it is especially insulting when the people are Christians and the wedding is trashy. You know what I mean by trashy. I recall someone saying to me "man there sure was a lot of praying during your wedding ceremony" (see the picture above) as if it was a negative thing, I just find it kind of messed up that any christian would think that praying & giving praise to God during the most God given point in ones life would be a negative thing. It all comes down the the fact that marriage isn't important to people anymore...its like the flowers and the dress are the only important part of the wedding, although those things are special in a wedding, it is definitely not what it is all about, if it is then that's not a good note to start a marriage off on. I was blessed that my wedding was everything I wanted it to be and it surprised me to be so much more than that. But to be honest...the best part about our wedding was the fact that it was a celebration of our brand new marriage, which is the biggest blessing in my life. I love our marriage..it doesn't matter if we live in kind of a ghetto apartment, if we struggle financially or if we spend a lot of our evenings doing hours of homework...we don't have to do anything to 'be married' we just simple "are" and that makes everyday special.
[Us at the Bybee B&B (where we spent our wedding night) last month on our 6 month wedding anniversary. we kind of look like we are special agents in our black shirts...like mission impossible style...it makes me laugh.]

If you are not too long, I will wait here for you all my life. ~ Oscar Wilde

Hello my faithful blog readers!

Im not sure how entertaining this blog will be...with school & work keeping me busy lately there's just not a whole lot to write about! I will say school is going great. I am much more focused, unlike a couple terms ago where I really just kind of goofed off. Im sick of wasting my time, looking back on it I was really stupid in not taking school more serious! Now that I am 21, married & ready for the rest of my life I have actually decided to take school and my future career more seriously & it feels good :) Plus, I have to get C's and above in my classes to keep my financial aid (which is paying for all my school) so there is some motivation as well. Ive never really loved school, I know...who does right? well my husband kind of does. I mean, he doesnt love going to school all day every day but he loves what he learns...homework isnt s chore for him, it's very interesting and intriguing for Tony..that also comes with taking classes that actually interest you..so for him its all physics and chemistry classes. But none the less I am actually trying this term... I did try some what before but not to the best of my ability. For example before I would have left studying to a test until the night before, but now I did my study guide three days before the test. It is also easier to be more studious now that Tony and I are married and living together...before I was trying to juggle school, work plus having a relationship...its just too much. It is much better just being married, doing our homework in the evenings..even if we barely see eachother during the day, we at least get to end the day together and fall alseep & wake up together. I love that about being married :)

As most of you know, I am very blessed because I am going to be an auntie again to two baby girls this Fall & Winter! My sister Jessi is pregnant and due with her first baby November 7th & my sister in law, Nicole, is due (also her first!) in early December! I know some people barely know or see their nieces and/or nephews and honestly, I could not handle that! I currently have two nephews and a niece and they are HUGE parts of my life, I see them at least a couple times a week... and if I dont I miss them like crazy! I was there for their births at the hospital just like I will be for the births of both my nieces on the way! Family is so important to me & they are the closest friends in my life...im so blessed to have them.

speaking of family...my sister turned 28 this weekend! & my husband turned 23 this weekend too! It met Tony when he was 17, he has grown up SO much over these last five years...its been amazing and such a blessing to watch him totally transform into my husband. This 23rd birthday just reminds me of how many more birthdays and celebrations we are going to have together...for the rest of our lives! Just the thought of it makes me so over joyed & excited for everythat that is to come :)

Have a mentioned that Fall is here? mmm and it is soo incredibly lovely. Cool crisp evening where we can snuggle up and get warm, & beautiful chilly Fall days...it has rained a little & other days the sun comes out...either way its cold enough for a sweatshirt and a warm starbuck pumpkin spice latte... i love this time of year! Im so ready for all the seasonal festivities to begin!
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9

wonderful wonderful Fall!

The weather was GORGEOUS today... Fall is here my friends & I hope it is here to stay. Just last week it was in the high 90s..yuck..im so over the heat. Today was the first day it really felt like fall. I was walking out of Old Navy (where I got a pair of really cute jeans for 6 bucks...another reason to smile!) when it hit me..the cool breeze, the crisp fall air, the fact that I was buying jean! I realized that the Summer is over and my favorite season has begun...praise God for that!

I got my Ingrid Michaelson ticket in the mail today! My sisters and I are going to take a trip up to Portland for her concert on my eldest sister's birthday which is going to be in just a couple weeks. It's going to be just us girls and one of our favorite musicians...if you have never listened to her music please do..she is wonderful, great music to listen to on a cool Fall evening, windows rolled down..mmm. Just lovely.
I start school tomorrow! It's kind of weird...Im excited & nervous all at the same time..which often accompany each other. Im not dreading school like I used to because Im going to school to pursue my career...my passion..one of the reasons God created me & that is to counsel teen girls. Im very content & at peace about my choice to pursue high school counseling. Im excited to start this new chapter of my life..of our life.
Also, this weekend is my sister, Emmi's birthday & Tony birthday! October is a very busy month for our family...we have 6 birthday in our family this month...both my sisters, Tony, my dad & my niece and nephew..and maybe my niece who is on her way, she is due on November 7th but you never know! I love this time of year because everything I love comes to fast...first everyones birthday, then pumpkin hunting at " White Country Farm" then Halloween, Christmas time begins in November for us! Thanksgiving, Winter, Picking out the tree...Christmas break...it is just all so wonderful & Im sharing it now with a husband who loves it all just as much as I do :)

To go along with the wonderful fall weather I downloaded a song that I discovered on Pandora this morning. It's called "Till Kingdom Come" by Coldplay. It reminds me of so much of what Tony & I have been through together, if you know how long we waited for each other..you will get it. Here are the lyrics, they are special to me.

Til Kingdom Come
"Still my heart and hold my tongue
I feel my time
My time has come
Let me in
Unlock the door
I never felt this way before
And the wheels just keep on turning
The drummer begins to drum
I don’t know which way I’m going
I don’t know which way I’ve come
Hold my head inside your hands
I need someone who understands I need someone, someone who hears
For you I’ve waited all these years
For you I’d wait 'til kingdom come
Until my day, my day is done
And say you'll come and set me free
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me
In your tears and in your blood
In your fire and in your flood
I hear you laugh, I heard you sing
I wouldn’t change a single thing
And the wheels just keep on turning
The drummers begin to drum
I don’t know which way I’m going
I don’t know what I’ve become
For you I’d wait 'til kingdom come
Until my days, my days are done
And say you'll come and set me free
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me"

"Blue Room" by Perry Como

As Im sure most of you know, Tony & I are huge fans of old music ...Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Perry Como, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, The Andrews Sisters...you name it. It's pretty much all we ever listen to..& our wedding was nothing but music from the 1940s & 50s... it was amazing! Last weekend I downloaded a song called "Blue Room" by Perry Como. I had heard it on the Mad Men soundtrack and loved it. As Tony & I were driving to Porters for our 6 Month Wedding anniversary we realized how perfect the lyrics were. We've always had songs that were "our songs"...but this song definitely is perfect for this new place in our lives being newly married & just really enjoying our marriage. As we went antique-ing the morning after we stayed at the Bybee B&B for our anniversary I found the sheet music for "Blue Room"..I hope to learn it on piano, & then someday when we have a home, I want a blue room & we can frame the sheet music and hang it there. Watch the video below (be sure to pause the music player on the left), it's the movie that "Blue Room" is from..and that is the wonderful Perry Como..his voice is like velvet.. I've loved his music since I was a little girl.

The Simple Things in Life...

It really is the simple things in life. This next week Tony & I will be starting school full time...which means along with work we are going to be very, very busy. I have gotten in the habit of always looking forward to the next big thing, and when I don't have that I'm not as happy.. it's just not very healthy to be honest! I say that because I need to live in the now...not the whole 'live in the moment' crap...I'm just saying I need to enjoy the present, the little things in life & not be anxious for tomorrow [Matthew 6:34]. So in tribute to the start of this new chapter in our lives I am going to make a list of the simple things that make the drudgery of the day to day exceptionally lovely & just..worth it! here it goes...
  • coffee. not just any coffee, Starbucks coffee :] especially an iced pumpkin spice latte on a fall day.
  • waking up next to my husband. It doesn't matter how early our day starts, waking up next to the person I love more than life itself is just absolutely the best way to start the day.

  • Getting lost in a good book. nuff said!

  • a classic music, candle lit bubble bath at the end of a long day.

  • appreciating God's creation..a sunset, a child, a beautiful landscape, your pet...it's all around you.

  • staying up late with my husband. We always end up staying up for like an hour after we get in bed...we pray, discuss our day, have deep talks, vent, cuddle, laugh..even cried before. This is probably my favorite part of the day :)

  • music that just makes you feel good. For me it's; Ingrid Michaelson, Feist, Jack Johnson, Taylor Swift..& music I have lots of emotion tied to like the music from my wedding ceremony (I listen to it almost everyday) & my favorite composer Adrian Johnston.

  • finding little things you love. For me it's antiques (from the 1950s & before) that match my home or that have something special about them. I also love vintage bird stuff..pictures, stamps, dishes etc. they just make me so happy.

  • a heart warming conversation with a friend. Even better...praying with a friend..get both & that's a wonderful gift.

  • Blunkfast...which is Tony & my version of breakfast for lunch or brinner which is breakfast for dinner. Both are fun & even better when shared with someone you love.

  • naps.

  • being crafty. I made a french memo board last week and I'm still bragging about it!

  • doing something for someone just to make them happy. I surprise Tony with a clean apartment every once and a while :]

  • spending time with family. Probably one of my favoritest (yes, I said favoritest!) things in life.

  • journaling...I love to journal..actually, this blog is much like a journal for me. It feels good to express yourself.

  • finding a new blog to read. Seriously, there are millions of them out there so go find some new beautiful inspiration! Check out the "sites I follow" column..you might find something you love!

  • curling up on the couch, drinking hot tea in an antique tea cup & watching period film like Marie Antoinette and Pride & Prejudice.

  • a new candle that smells really, really freaking good. I suggest the pumpkin spice candle from Pier One, especially now that it's fall.

  • Good food. Totally makes a bad day better.

  • Listing the blessings in your life & then thank God for each and every one of them. You soon realize how blessed you really are...& that of course makes any day better.

6 month Wedding anniversary!

Tony & I had a wonderful 6 month wedding anniversary! Dinner at Porters was delicious as always! We got dessert to go & shared it back at the B&B along with a bottle of champagne. We discovered that there was a tv in the armoire...which we didnt know last time. We were very happy about that...we watched a horrible, horrible local made movie called Batface & Birdbrain..apparently is was made in Ashland..it was a spoof on batman...definitely the worst made movie & worst acting ever in the history of the world! Why did we watch you ask? We about laughed till we cried making fun of it. I seriously hope to find this on youtube & then I am going to send it in to The Soup. Anywho..the evening was wonderful. We woke up early & had an amazing breakfast of poached pears, bacon, Havarti eggs, potatoes, fresh fruit & peach crapes. We checked out at 11 & then headed to some antique shops. We found some great stuff which you can see in pictures below. All in all it was a very relaxing yet fun anniversary!
{how awesome is this? I saw it this morning at the Bybee B&B out by the coy pond!}
{the back porch of Bybee B&B...so wonderful}
{these coys were giant! & very beautiful too!}
{the wonderful Bybee B&B...we plan to stay here every year!}
{Tony & his Jonny Walker Blue label Scotch...pretty intense stuff..ide rather have a martini}
{aren't these amazing? we got them at an antique store for a buck each! they are from the 50s or 60s...we are going to hang them in our house..the Union Creek one matches my Martha Stewart kitchen stuff!}
{another great find at an antique store.. "Abbott's Bitters"! we were so excited to find it because one; it's an antique from 1920 & two Abbott is our last name!}

{us before we headed out for some antique-ing...it is so wonderful to be married to a man who appreciates antiques! Im a lucky woman!}
