21 Months Old!!!

Weight: Des is in the 99th percentile at 33 lbs! :)

Length: He is now in the 95th percentile for height measuring at 35 1/2 inches tall! Holy Moly!

Eats: favorite foods are milk, strawberries and graham crackers. He doesnt eat as much as he used to...his appetite has leveled out a little I think..for now anyways ;)

 

Sleeps: 12ish hours a night, usually about a 2 hour nap during the day.

Likes: the outdoors! Now that it's nice all he wants to do is play outside! We spend pretty much all day at the park or in the yard. He also is so interested in bugs and planes right now. If he sees a bug he will watch and study it for the longest time! It's so cute. He is also crazy for planes, he will stop whatever he is doing and just stand and watch it in the sky! And of course he loves Yo Gabba Gabba and dancing to big band music :) He's a pretty awesome kid if you ask me!

Dislikes: Umm..not being outside? lol. That's pretty much a nightmare in Desmond's world. Riding in his carseat..we made the mistake of letting him play in the front seat with Tony while I ran into a store once. Now that's ALL he ever wants to do.

Milestones: Desmond is talking SO much now. He says full sentences. He actually said "I dont want it, I want to go!" the other day! He says Thank You and God Bless you on his own! He also says 'I want out' 'mommy I want it' among many other phrases. He can name so much stuff now and he understands most questions we ask him, his vocabulary has taken a huge leap. One big milestone..Des got his first stitches this week :( he broke a piece of glass and tried to pick it up before I could get to him. It was only two stitches on his index finger but the whole process was really sad. Surprisingly he didnt even cry when he got cut, he only cried when we had to hold him down for the stitches..once he was done and we let him down he just walked out of the room totally happy...he wanted to go find the fishies :) The entire stitching I felt like God was calmly telling me ...oh Becky, this is just the first of many. lol..I dont doubt Desmond is going to be one wild adventurous boy with many bumps, bruises, stitches and hopefully not many boken bones to prove it! He has been such a champ about the stitches, he hasnt been bothered by it at all. We just say 'let me see your owie finger' and he very patiently lets us clean it and put bandaids on. He is just the greatest and I love him. He is the sweetest little boy..completely full of personality, funny, loving and my ENTIRE heart. I thank God for my precious gift every single day ♥

Desmond at 19 months!

Weight: Desmond is 31 lbs
Length: and 33 inches

Eats: He isnt eating as much these days. The only thing he will eat non stop is fruit. He goes rummaging through the fridge trying to find grapes and oranges lol. Oh and he looooooves milk. 

Sleeps: Des sleeps 11-12 hours a night and naps an hour to 2 hours a day. I hope it stays that way as long as possible!!

Likes: the vacuum, he follows me around crying because he wants to push it and press the on/off button over and over..he also now loves to wear one mine or Tony's shoe around the house and go up and down the stairs..he will work on that for a long time! He loves to jump on the bed and he is absolutely crazy for holding his baby nephew Cillian! He yells for 'Bebee!' ...he still loves bathtime and sticking his face in the water for half a second (I think we need to get him into swimming!) Going down the slide over and over .. And as always, he loves Yo Gabba Gabba, we watch it every morning during breakfast :)

Dislikes: sitting in his highchair...suddenly he hates it and insists on sitting in a 'big boy' chair. Being told no to any of the things I listed above...he has been throwing some collasal tantrums lately. We cant go to the store without him screaming to get out of the cart, and that's not an option because he will just run and run and run. GAH! Toddlerhood!!

Milestones: Des seems to understand conversation so much better than before. I can ask him and question and more often than not he understands. Granted Im asking really simple questions but still! He says "I love you mommy" which makes my heart want to explode! He has suddenly become kind of bossy...He will turn the vacuum on and off and then look at me and shake his head and say 'no no no'...he's done something similar to his cousin Coco as well. It's pretty funny! He can literally climb up the slide at the park! He climbs on anything and everything! This boy never ceases to amaze me ♥

Desmond at almost 18 months...

Weight: Des is around 30 lbs and in the mid to upper 90th percentile..biiig boy :) he is solid and very, very strong. He has been known to lift a cast iron pot and a giant thing of kitty litter (among other heavy stuff)! We are always freaked out by the things he is able to move and picks up!..I foresee football in this guy's future for sure!

Length: He is 31 inches tall (or around there)..about the 77th percentile.

Eats: Desmond loves fruit, bread and milk. Especially clementines and raisins! He would live off those things if we let him. We work hard to get him to eat meat but he just isnt too interested at this point, he tolerates it. He liked pasta too. But yes, he is a good eater, obviously not lacking in that area :)

Sleeps: Desmond has been a great sleeper as a toddler!... but he hasnt always been! Those first 5 to 9 months were seriously difficult. Thankfully he loves his crib now and goes down with out a fuss almost always. Occasionally he will protest naptime by playing in his crib but we're yet to go a day without a nap...he always eventually gives in. He sleeps 9pm to 9ish and naps an hour and a half to 3 (on a really good day!) hours. Im so glad he loves his crib now! I dont know what we would do if he didnt. I pray our next child does if they do not co sleep well!

Likes: being outside and exploring...he will just go and go and never stop. He is just like his dad, always studying things, deep in thought, exploring the world around him...they are two peas in a pod! He also likes eating clementines with Grandma, Yo Gabba Gabba, pretending to sweep and vacuum, his crib, his lamby (which he must sleep with everynight) and drawing with daddy on his physics white board.

Dislikes: being told 'no'. Weve definitely hit the temper tantrum stage. He is very headstrong..he thankfully usually only acts that way when he is completely comfortable with who he is with, so that's at home with Tony and I. You wouldnt really know it based on how he acts when we're out and about...but we're yet to hit the terrible twos so I better shut it before I eat my words..lol. One thing he dislikes holding still or staying in one place for a long time..Des is ALWAYS on the go and up to something.

Milestones: Desmond is running and jumping now. He says short phrases like "mommy I wanna go" and "I'm hungry" among lots of different words. He went to his first movie a few months ago and that was an epic fail..he just wanted to explore the movie theater lol. Tony and definitely got some exercise that day! He loves to give hugs and kisses to anyone and everyone..even objects like characters in books. He will point to a dog, boy, shoe, cat etc in a book if you ask him to...although he is sometimes stubborn and just wont because he doesnt feel like it. He eats with a fork pretty good and holds a crayon really well.. he is definitely right hand dominate unlike his lefty parents. We can learn to love him despite it I guess ;) haha. Des went down the slide like a big boy for the first time this week and did great.He has most his front teeth and molars in (which has made for fuuun teething times...) He loves to roll over the arm of the couch onto the cushion..it's his favorite thing to do this week.. He is growing up so much, everyday is something new :)

Pretty much our son is awesome and amazing in every way. Toddlerhood definitely has it's challenges but it's the easiest stage so far and we are sure enjoying it. We love our son so much and we are truly blessed by the gift of parenthood!

Desmond at 15 months

Here's a little bit about Mister Desmond at 15 months old..

My little man weighs 29 lbs putting him in the 93rd percentile for his weight and is 31 inches tall, putting him in the 55th percentile for his height!

This kid never. stop. GOING! From the moment he wakes up to the moment he goes to sleep, he is on the go. We attempted to take Desmond to his first movie at the theater with his cousins today. We went and saw Puss In Boots. Let's just say we didnt see really any of the movie. lol. It was a major fail. He was much more interested in running around than he was in the movie. We wont be trying that again for a while! The theater was very kind and offered us 3 free passes since we missed so much of the movie, so Tony and I will have to have a movie date sometime here soon :)

He had his first haircut on November 5th! Grandma took off just a little bit so his hair looked less mullet-ish. I was worried it would lose it's curl but thankfully it's even more curly now.

Desmond naps once a day, usually for 2-3 hours. And generally sleeps from 9pm to 9am. He still wakes up occasionally and we're starting the bottle weaning fun this week, should be a great ol time :| wish us luck!

Des wears anywhere between 12, 18 and 24 months and his feet are a size 6, but Im thinking he is almost a 7.

Desmond is obsessed with hiding things, or putting smaller things in bigger things...he's nuts about it! He's still crazy for his binkys or as he calls them 'deedee'. He still loves to be outside, he's an outdoors kinda boy..I think he always will be. He's taken a liking to Barney (UGH) and still loves Yo Gabba Gabba. He loooves his cousins and his Grandma and Grandpa- it's been such a blessing to live here, he has so much fun with them everyday. They just shower him with attention and love!

His favorite food is definitely fruit, he would live off it if I allowed him. He also loves sweets. If you have ice cream or cake he will be your best friend. He pretty much never get's sweets because they make him crazy hyper, but when he does...Good lord, look out!

Desmond's favorite things to say are 'go away' (he says that almost constantly, I dont think he understands what it means lol, it sounds like like 'goweey' hahaha.)...'doggy' ...'kitty' ...'uh oh' ..'daddy'...'more'...'mama'...'Coco' (his cousins name) 'cracker' and he has also said; auntie, Ben (his older cousins name), cool, bye, hi, yay, cheerio, mirror (that one surprised me)..and so on. He just blabbers all the time, most the time it just gibberish but he talks like he knows exactly what he is saying.
He is running now, climbing up and off of the couch by himself...he loves to spin around and throw things down the stairs..and is now trying to jump. It's pretty funny looking! He is really strong for a baby, he picks up heavy stuff you'd never imagine a toddler could hold. It's kind of crazy. And might I add...this kid is fearless. We seriously have our hands full!

He has little temper tantrums sometimes...he will stomp around or hit his hands on the floor and yell. It was pretty funny at first...now, not so much.

Desmond loves animals. We have two dogs and 4 cats and Desmond loves to pet and/or terrorize all of them. He is getting good at being gentle but he still has his moments. We're definitely working on it!

Desmond's 14 months old!

Desmond weighs 26 pounds. He is in the 75th percentile for his weight. He went from the 95th to the 75th in two month. He has really leaned out although he still has a big ol belly :)

Desmond is a walking pro! He has been walking since 10 and half months. He even runs now! He often runs from mom and dad when he has something he knows he should. Such a sneaky little stinker.

He loves to be outside. Im so thankful we have a yard for him to play in now. He plays outside a majority of the day. Des plays and explores and can often be found out in Grandma's raspberry patch eating any and every berry he can find. Even the unripe ones sometimes! Raspberries are most definitely his favorite food.

He is the epitome of a boy. He loves dirt, climbing anything and everything (just like his dad!), he already has little nics, bruises and scrapes from playing rough in the yard. He makes little growl like sounds when playing with his dinosaurs and eats violently by the fistful. Desmond is ALL boy!

Des naps once a day for 3 hours or twice a day for an hour and a half. He goes to bed between 9 and 10 and sleeps until 9, 10 or 11. Moving into his own room recently has worked like magic on his sleeping schedule..He sleeps more soundly, takes 2 naps (before living here he only took one restless nap) and wakes a lot less (sometimes not at all) during the night. This week has been amazing so far! I dont at all regret sharing a room and co sleeping with him over this last year but I think his own room and space is exactly what he needs at this age. I still love it when he will nap with Tony and I though...those times are special and make us so happy. In fact, we still say everynight how we wish he was right next to us but we obviously know he doesnt sleep well in bed with us and the flailing and kicking gets old fast! :)

Desmond says things like: I did it, dog, thank you, hi, mama, dada, more, mmm (for yummy) and others that I cant think of right now.

He wears a size 18-24 months and a size 6 shoe

Des loves to randomly kiss Tony and I by leaning in, putting his mouth to ours and saying 'muah!' :) he also does this to his stuffed toys.

He still gets a 4 oz bottle of whole milk at naptime and bedtime. I dont have the heart to wean him from the bottle yet, soo...Im not going to :) He also still uses the pacifier, I dont plan to take that away until 2ish.

Desmond at 1 year old...

Desmond weighs 24 pounds putting him in the 70th percentile for his weight.

He is 29 inches tall put him in the 25th percentile for his length (which is weird to me because he seems tall).

Desmond naps once (sometimes twice) a day for an hour to two hours..and sleeps 9-12 hours a night.

He has been walking since 11 months and now never crawls, always walking and never stopping!

Des loves his stuffed toys, he likes to hug them..seriously cute.

He wears a size 12-18 months in clothes and a size 6 in shoes....this kid has big feet.

He loves music and dances by bouncing, stepping back and fourth and shaking his head haha!


He says new words all the time. He said 'thank you' the other day and 'cookie' too.

He is in the dreaded hitting stage :/ he really only hits Tony and I but it's still really annoying to be hit square in the face all the time! Hopefully it passes soon.

He LOVES Summer fruit. He can down a giant bowl of raspberries from Grandma's garden in a matter of minutes.

Desmond loves the waterpark...he is braver than most the big kids there! He just sticks his face right in the water! haha.

He can follow simple commands "grab mommy a book" ..."give the ball to daddy" etc. It's amazing how much he understands now.

Des has been off formula since his birthday...he still has milk in a bottle 2-3 times a day during bed time and naps and also in a sippy during a meal. We are debating on weaning him from the bottle yet...but that's a big 'ol post for another day...

He gives the best high fives and kisses!

Desmond went camping for the first time this last month. He did good despite it being freakishly cold at night. One camping trip a Summer with a toddler is good for me...it's a lot of work and worrying!

Despite having plenty of toys to play with ..Im pretty sure his favorite thing to do is tear out all of his dad's xbox games and throw them all over the floor....parenting isnt for the uptight!

Des is actually a pretty mellow happy toddler these days. He really only fusses when he is ready to sleep or is hungry..other than that he is playing and smiling all the time :)

His favorite books are by Gyo Fujikawa (the cutest best books ever)..he makes me read them over and over...Im not sick of them yet surprisingly.

oh and Desmond is the best sweetest baby ever and I love him so much ♥ really though, he's the best ..ever :)

11 months and such a big boy!

Weight: We havent weighed Desmond since his 9 month appointment and he was about 22 then. I know for sure he has gained since that appointment. His cousin Coco weighs 25 lbs and he feels the same as her if not maybe a little more. So im betting around 25 lbs.

Length: not sure but he is a tall boy! He was in 80th percentile at his last appointment and Im thinkin he is still the same.

Eats: pretty much anything we eat. He loves frozen grapes and graham crackers, those are his favorite.

Sleeps: He has been sleeping in his crib like a champ for almost a month now! He generally sleeps 9:30 pm to between 9 and 10:30 am. I love it.

Likes: climbing on stuff, chasing daddy and being chased, playing outside, his cousins, Im pretty sure his Grandma (my mom) is his favorite person ever! He loves giving hugs and patting you on the back, Yo Gabba Gabba, being tickled, his crib, cuddling stuffed toys, stacking and knocking stuff over.

Dislikes: having his diaper changed or being dressed and being told 'no'. He is starting to throw fits...and it is ridiculous!

Milestones: Des is walking everywhere! In just a few days he went from taking 5 steps to just pretty much walkin around the house! He is now working on bending down and picking stuff up and then standing back up. He is SO close. He waved 'bye bye' to his cousin yesterday and he is talking all the time. Sometimes it sounds like he copies you...He has said duck, dog, kitty, mama, dad, daddy, ma (that's my favorite!)..and I swear he said " I love you" back to Tony today! He is starting to climb on stuff...he tries to climb onto the the dishwasher and into the fridge. He is growing up so much, he is definitely on his way into toddlerhood. It's bittersweet...but honestly, Im having the time of my life with this stage right now...and Desmond is going to be a year in ONE MONTH! AAAH! Im so excited for his party :D yay!

oh my gosh! I just realized I never did any kind of post about Desmond being 10 MONTHS OLD! You guys! that is sooo old! He is on the brink of toddlerhood and waay to close to being done with the baby stage..NOOO! Im not ready :( but at the same time..Im very excited! I have to say, this age has been my favorite so far..and I know I say that like ..all the time..haha..but really. We are having so much fun right now..here is a little bit about our baby bear :)

Desmond is somewhere around 29 inches tall and 22/or 23ish pounds right now!

He wasnt a quick smiler for the first while but now he is SUCH a flirt. He smiles back at just about anyone and does this cute little scrunchy face to go along with it!

Desmond has 4 teeth! Two on top and two on bottom..he is the most adorable little gap tooth there ever was!

Desmond has taken a few steps...he is sooo close to walking and seems to really understand that it is a big deal- he gets excited when he takes a step!

Desmond has been going up to Tony and saying 'ad' and just said "yay!" the other day when he took a step..which makes sense because I say yay to him all the time.

Des is a pro at his pushing his walker...he even pulls it backwards sometimes if he runs into something.

He loves his binkies...he crawls around with one in each hand and one in his mouth.

Baby bear is sleeping 9-11 hours a night in his crib waking once for a bottle. It took one rough night of crying it out...I was standing next to the crib comforting him the entire time...well Im happy to say it worked and this way I didnt feel guilty or sad about because I was right there and all his needs were met. Plus his crib is only a few feet from our bed so it's not like he is in a room alone. I think this may be one of the parenting choices I have been most happy with..it was a struggle for me but with prayer and some wise council from moms I respect- we did it! And now he sleeps so much deeper and so do we :)

Des will very soon be in a big boy carseat! We bought the Britax Marathon tonight at Target $50 off! It was a steal and the Britax really are the best! We just need to put it in the car... I cant believe we are saying bye bye to that infant carrier..he came home from the hospital in that! waaaah!!

Desmond still hates to be dressed...he has screamed and fought that since day one!

People say Des is a perfect mix between Tony and I. He looks like both of us so much and I love that!

He loves to lay down on pillows now...it's too funny. If you lay your head on a pillow on the floor he almost always crawls over and lays his head down too.

Desmond loves to be chased and to chase his papa. We say "Im gonna get you!" and he squeals and crawls really fast! And then he will crawl fast after Tony too...it's so amazing that he is starting to understand so much!

The fridge and the dishwasher are a magical land in Desmond's mind..

I think that the stranger anxiety is starting to subside. He came to practice with me and just about every JV girl (whom he has never seen in his life!) held him and he was happy as a clam!

Desmond was officially diagnosed with infant asthma last month. Thankfully his case isnt super serious. He does get wheezy and a junky cough fairly easy when he gets sick but the pulmicort worked wonders. We just have to get used to giving him breathing treatments everyday..we arent very good at that yet :/

still loves the laptop more than just about anything ever...and takes every chance he can to pull out the power cord and slam the keyboard...little stinker.

Des is wearing pretty much all 12-18 month clothes and size 4 shoes. This kid has big feet!

He still cries 'mamama' and says 'dadada' when he wants to play.

He wears a size 3 in Huggies and 4 in Target brand. BTW- never ever buy Luvs..suckiest diapers EVER!

His favorite foods right now are toast, yogurt and frozen grapes. aaand Im pretty sure my baby is an old man ;)

And last-I think I can finally say that after 10 months- our marriage feels normal again! Our focus was so much on Desmond (and still is of course) and it has been quite an adjustment to learn how to be parents and spouses at the same time..but I really feel like things are back to how they were before Des was born. Im more in love with Tony now than ever..sounds cliche but his love for Desmond makes me love him a million times more...I cant imagine how blah our lives would be without Desmond...he is just the most precious gift, just the epitome of JOY and has knit Tony and I to eachother for eternity...it's truly what life is about my friends ♥ THIS is the time of our lives.

Happy 9 Monthabirthday Desmond!

A little bit about Desmond at 9 months old

Desmond is obsessed with the computer, any chance he gets he will crawl over and bang on the keyboard...hard enough to break the keys off too :/

His favorite food these days is yogurt, bananas and graham crackers

He usually sleeps half the night in his swing and half in bed with mama and papa

Desmond loooves to play the piano at Grandma's house and recognizes the word 'piano' if you say it to him

He is shy to strangers and people he doesnt know well but very smiley and happy with those he sees often

Desmond is definitely a night owl like his parents, he is his most hyper between 9 and 10 pm

He is crawling quickly these days...he also crawls over and under things...and occasionally gets stuck lol.

We watch Sesame Street every morning and Elmo is most definitely his favorite!

He cruises everywhere, pulls himself up with ease and occasionally stands on his own.

Desmond has NO teeth yet but drools like basset hound! If he doesnt wear a bib, the front of his outfits will be soaked.

He whispers 'papa' and cries for 'mama

Desmond is very ticklish right under his chin

He sleeps 9-10 hours a night going to bed around 10:30, waking once or twice (that's usually when I move him into bed with us) and naps twice a day usually.

Desmond wears size 3 diapers and 9-12 month clothing. Although most 9 month pants are too short for his long body...which he definitely doesnt get from his mom's side!

He finds it funny when I take his binky away and put it in my mouth or when his dad plays peekaboo with him

Desmond loves his cousins and thankfully gets to see the ones on my side of the family (Donnelly (3), Liam (3), Ben (7) and Coco (18 months) just about every single day! They are his best buds.

He has this uncanny ability to find the tinniest little bits of stuff..he will then study his prize for a long time (if his binky is in, if it's not...he will probably eat it). I vacuum often these days!

Desmond loves the outdoors, especially when it is sunny...he smiles and kicks his legs with delight :)

He is obsessed with the refrigerator and exploring it's contents.

An empty two liter soda bottle has been one of his favorite things to play with lately!

He had his first flu this month, projectile vomiting in his carseat and puking into mom's hand at Red Robin. Thankfully it was over within 24 hours! It was a disgusting day to say the least.

Desmond now cuddles with mama when he is sleepy or needs a break from playing...it is the best feeling in the world :)

Happy 8 Monthabirthday Desmond!

Weight: 19 pounds 7 oz!

Length: not sure this month...we will know next month at his 9 month appointment

Eats: sweet potatoes, rice, beans, avocados, saltines, applesauce, toast, sweet potato fries, bananas, cantelope, graham crackers...and mainly whatever we eat. He is eating pretty much whatever now except dairy, highly processed stuff, eggs and honey.

Sleeps: about 9-11 hours a night..a couple naps during the day

Likes: papa's car keys, bath time, hanging out with his Grandma and his cousins, Wonder Pets & Oswald (tv shows), penny and nanook (my parent's dogs), the xbox controller, Johnny jumper, sunny days...discovering new things..getting into anything and everything he can! :)

Dislikes: being put in his carseat (although he is generally fine once he is in the car), when I wipe his face (which is often these days with all the teething-drool!), being dressed and new people talking to him..the stranger anxiety has set in!

Milestones: this may be the biggest month so far! Desmond is now crawling, going from crawling to sitting, sitting to crawling, sitting on his knees (which might be the cutest thing EVER!), pulling himself up to standing, cruising, transitioning from standing to turn around (like when I sit behind him), taking step while holding onto someone's hands and he has stood completely by himself for short amounts of time (about 15 seconds a few days ago!) in the last week! He is eating big boy food now...less purees and more stuff like spaghetti and chicken and mash potatoes (and everything else I named above)! He is babbling non stop and is saying 'Dada' :) ...He has a toy that pops up and there are little doors to close...he closes all of them easy peasy! He also loves to give kisses to mama, papa and grandma :) He is surprising me every single day!

7 months old!

my poor baby is still sick :( we found out Desmond has pneumonia yesterday. Despite being sick he is still in relatively good spirits, hence the video below. He is rasberrying and babbling so much these past days...I had to get video of it :)

Weight: 18 pounds now! Des gained two pounds in one month..can we say growth spurt?!

Length: somewhere around 26 inches

Eats: Oh so much these days! He still nurses and then gets a little formula..we started supplementing about a month ago but now Im slowly trying to wean him from any formula at all, we are getting there..the fenugreek is really helping my supply...as far as food food he is doing great! He eats sweet potatoes, bananas (pretty much everyday, fav food by far), rice, beans, pears, bakes potatoes, avocado, applesauce, chicken, oatmeal...those are his favorites right now :) He isnt really a fan of the purees..he likes food with chunks and texture.

Sleeps: generally about 9-11 hours at night..waking once or twice to nurse or for a bottle. And naps a couple times during the day for anywhere between an hour or two hours.

Likes: his toy keys, FOOD, music, bath time, looking at himself in the mirror, standing (with support of course), books, sitting and playing, going places in his stroller, his doorway jumper, napping with Grandma, watching his cousins, rasberrying and babbling :)

Dislikes: my FB status tonight sums it up pretty well: "dressing my child is seriously comparable to putting a cat in a tiny cat sized straight jacket. UTTER FREAKING CHAOS."

Milestones: oh boy..this month is big for milestones! Desmond's life revolved around trying to crawl these days. Anytime he is laid on his back he instantly rolls over and gets up in the crawl position and starts rocking back and forth! Sometimes he is having fun and other times he is pissed he cant figure it out. He can scoot backwards like a champ..in fact I looked away for two second the other night and he had almost scooted himself under the couch (See picture)! lol. He is very mobile on his tummy turning every which way to get to his toys and he can sit all by himself now..he is also now transitioning from sitting to tummy/crawling position! He works so hard at it! Des is really now just getting into playing with his toys, if he has his eye on something it is then his absolute goal to get it. He is also using his pincher grasp here and there and picking up small pieces of food to bring to his mouth! He doesnt get it in his mouth everytime yet but still makes it every once and a while! I always get super excited when he does it successfully :) haha. He sits in high chairs at restaurants and in the front of the cart at the store like a big boy..and oh man does he love it! He kicks his legs and reaches for everything in sight! Des is really starting to babble more saying 'ba, ma, br, di,' and rasberrying like none stop! My baby is learning and growing so much every single day! This is such an amazing stage, I seriously love it ♥

HAPPY HALF BIRTHDAY!

The last 6 months have been the most wonderful, blessed time of our life..there have been many sleepless nights and our patience has been tested in ways we didnt know possible but believe me when I say the blessing have been countless. Becoming parents was the best decision we have ever made...I love this child so much I could just burst! HAPPY HALF BIRTHDAY to the sweetest most precious baby in the universe! I love you Desmond Alexandre O'Neil Abbott ♥

Weight: 15 lbs 11 oz. He is a little guy now! I could have not forseen this with my giant 9 lb baby back 6 months ago! lol. The doctor isnt concerned but he does want to do a weight check a month and a half from now just to be safe, if not we would have to wait until his 9 month appointment and that is just too long.

Length: 26 and 1/4 inches

Eats: He nurses 6-8 times a day...very efficient these days. He generally nurses for like 5 minutes..sometimes less. When this first began I kind of panicked but I guess it's normal. Ive researched and talked to my lactation consultant and apparently there isnt anything to worry about. Im trying to trust that because sometimes it just doesnt seem right! ...He is also eating purees twice a day...he loves pears, peaches, bananas and sweet potatoes. We tried avocado for the first time today and he wasnt too crazy about it at first but I think it grew on him. We are going to keep trying it..I think it he was just weirded out by the new texture. He also gets pear juice everyday now...if not he gets super constipated :( it's sad.

Sleeps: He generally sleeps from 12 am to 11 am but wakes 2-3 times. We are trying to transition him into his crib, which is in our room. He just doesnt seem comfortable sleeping in his swing anymore and he doesnt get into a deep sleep when he is in bed with us. Weve been able to get him to sleep a couple 3-4 hour stretches in the crib so far this week so I guess that's a good start!

Likes: snuggling! lately he has been super cuddly..he'll cuddle his face on my shoulder or chest. It's the sweetest thing ever. And also bath time even more now..I just bring him in the bath with me and he loves it...he is crazy about grabbing his bath toys and chewing on them! As soon as he gets in the tub he is on a mission to find the bath toys..it's pretty cute!

Dislikes: bedtime. he just wants to be held while walking around the apartment..? It's like there is so much to see these days!

Milestones: sitting up! He is getting to the point where he can sit by himself for a little bit. He is rolling a lot more now too...he will roll from tummy to back, to tummy to back...multiple times to get to a certain toy. He also is starting to bear weight on his arms and tuck his legs..I dont think crawling will be too far off! Kind of scary actually... I need to start baby proofing!

5 Month stats

Donnelly & Desmond..cousins and best friends :)

Weight: Desmond was 14 lbs and 10 oz about 3 weeks ago at his doctor appointment. He went from the 75th percentile to the 5oth. I think he is really lengthening out. He started out a big boy...he was 9 lbs 1 oz at birth but now his little body is changing...he's got chunky cheeks and legs and a long torso :)

Length: 26.5 inches long! (75th percentile). Desmond is in all 6-9 month clothes now. Most things are a little baggy in the arms but too short in the legs.

Eats: nursing 6-10 times a day but for shorter amounts of time, usually about 10-20 minutes each time he eats...aaand we just started solids this week! We started with pureed bananas and he did wonderful! He was definitely ready...when he sees that spoon coming he gets so excited he shakes and kicks his legs! haha! It's hilarious. We are going to start rice cereal next week, we will introduce a new solid every week or so. This is so fun, we are seriously loving it.

Sleeps: usually from about 12 am to 10 am..waking once or twice to eat. He then naps some during the day. A lot of days he has a hard time getting into a good solid nap because we arent at home usually...he only sleeps well if it is lying next to me. When he doesnt nap he gets pretty grumpy so Im hoping he will eventually be able to nap a little better and not just at home.

Likes: he really (and I mean really) loves the pureed bananas, drinking water out of a sippy cup, bouncing and spinning in his bouncer, rolling over, seeing papa get hit (my niece Coco, who is 13 months, hit Tony and Desmond laughed at it!) He also loves splashing in the bath, getting massaged, being naked ( LOVES it!)going to cheer practice with me (he gets tons of attention from all the girls), being talked to (especially by my neices and nephews), flying in the air with papa, and sleeping next to momma :)

Dislikes: getting dressed, long car rides, bedtime when he would rather be up playing (little stinker)..being in the house all day.

Milestones: Of course he had his first Thanksgiving and was a complete angel that day, I could not believe it..he didnt cry at all! He is rolling non stop now...anytime you put him on the floor he will roll. He is lifting his head while on his belly a lot more now...he sometimes will reach and grab toys while on his belly...he got his first Christmas tree a few weeks ago :) starting solids of course. When people smile at him he sometimes smiles and then bashfully hides his face in my chest! He has figured out how to jump and spin in his bouncer. He is cooing and squealing a ton these day...he loooves taking his binky in and out of his mouth. He is starting to laugh when he sees something funny apposed to just being tickled...he laughed at me while I was dancing earlier tonight and he loves when his papa gets bumped in the head with his swing (see the video below)...he is pretty much awesome and amazing and everything cool in the universe :D seriously...I love this kid.
