a must have...

"A piggy bank designed to save items of emotional value instead of financial value, like ticket stubs and love notes–the sorts of things we want to hold on to but usually put in shoeboxes and other places that don’t highlight their value. Brilliant? YES!"

baby wants.

So I will be starting a new blog topic called "baby wants" which is basically a compiled list of things I want for Desmond or things I already have for him that are worthy of sharing. Of course, many of these things I will probably never be ever to afford but who knows..maybe Ill win the lottery :) So here it goes..my first Baby Wants post...

I just want this. It's awesome and cool and my baby will be those things so I must have it. You can see more about it HERE.
same goes for this one.

I just adore these customized monogrammed signs. I want to get one done to commemorate Desmond's birth (after it happens of course). For $26, Almost Sunday will design one for any child and let you pick the colors and print an 11 x 14 poster print that you can have framed. How amazing would "Desmond Alexandre Abbott" look monogrammed on one of these?

If you know me at all you know I'm a sucker for vintage-y things, as is Tony. We love love love antiques and most things that resemble antiques (if it's done tastefully...which most times it's not) so of course when I discovered this vintage-y baby book back around Christmas time I just fell in love with it. It reminds me a lot of my dad's baby book which qualifies as an antique (sorry dad) since he was born in 1946 :) All the illustrations in the book are old and amazing..I just love it. Alot of the baby books these days have creepy looking cartoons and I just never like any of them, I'm so happy I found this one because it is perfect for us. It's the first thing I went out and bought after I found out were having a boy. You can see more about it HERE

I want these amazing pants. Someone buy them for me. haha just kidding..but seriously? Can you say freaking cute? You can see them HERE.

This IKEA high chair is 20 bucks! Can you believe it? My sister told me about and I just cant believe it's true. IKEA is awesome. So this is the high chair I want. I don't want anything that's giant and bulky, something like this one would be perfect. You can see more about it HERE.

so I know this hat is on a girl baby but it would be equally cute (if not more cute) on a little boy...especially a little boy named Desmond :) You can see it HERE.

Tony and I have always talked about how our sons will be gentlemen. I think most people want their sons to have manners and be little gentlemen (who wouldn't?) but they are missing a huge part to making that happen- a father who sets the example. A child is not going to hold the door open for his little sister if his dad lets it slam in his mother's face. Ive been blessed with a husband who is the epitome of a gentleman..it was one of the first things that attracted me to Tony..he was unlike any other guy I had ever known (other than my own dad). And even to this day I don't know any guys who are as kind, considerate and well mannered as he is. So, that being said...I absolutely adore this book. I came across it a few months ago (before I knew if this baby was a boy or girl) so much of it reminds me of Tony. There's a lot of good advice in it, funny and serious...here are a few lessons out of the book (which you can see more of HERE) that I hope to share with Desmond one day:

"Yes Ma’am. No Sir. No exceptions."
"Don’t spit."
"If you are tempted to wear a cowboy hat, resist."
"Eat lunch with the new kid."
"It’s not enough to be proud of your ancestry. Live up to it."
"Hold doors, pull out chairs, easy on the swears."
"Make time for your mom on your birthday. It’s her special day too."
"Be nice to your sister. You are her confidante, cheerleader, and bodyguard."
"Gratitude is the sign of noble souls."
" Offer your date the seat with the best view of the restaurant."
"Stand up to bullies. You’ll only have to do it once."
"Don’t boo."
"Limit your time in California."
"If you’ve made your point, stop talking."
"Courtesy is as much a mark of a gentleman as courage."
"If it looks like rain, carry an umbrella. She’ll thank you."
"The hardest job kids face today is learning good manners without seeing any." -
Fred Astaire
"Know her dress size. Don’t ask."
"Look people in the eye when you thank them, especially waiters."
"Ask your mother to dance."
"Go down fighting."
"There is exactly one place where it is acceptable to wear gym clothes."
"Until you are a doctor, never answer your phone at the table."
"Make your own money."
"There comes a time in every rightly constructed boy’s life that he has a raging desire to go somewhere and dig for hidden treasure." -
Mark Twain
